Why pay Hangnail to make my site when my cousin's brother's boyfriend (or any other semi-relation) will do it for free?
Because I will do it within a set deadline, I will work with you one-on-one to fulfill your vision, and most importantly, I will do the job right.
When you go with a semi-professional designer working out of his or her bedroom, you are at their mercy. You may not get the look that you want, and time and time again I have watched people wait on a "free site" for months and months. That's precious time many don't have. Not to mention you will most likely have zero customer support, and I would advise you to prepare for a heaping helping of unanswered phone calls and ignored emails. Things will get done when your designer "gets around to it". Imagine, if you don't already know, how much extra stress this will be on you and your business.
I need monthly web maintenance but don't want to hire another employee, can you help?
YES. I am currently searching for companies in need of graphic and web design on any scale, but focusing on those who do not necessarily want to hire on another employee. For a small monthly fee I can maintain your website as well as your mailing list or customer database.
Please contact me if you are interested in setting up your personal package.
What is the difference between CD Replication and CD Duplication?
CD Replication is professional grade manufacturing. Your CD will be created based of a Glass Master cut from your original master CD. This is the best way to achieve flawless copies for your project, and also the method that the pros (Major Label Artists) use.
We DO NOT simply burn your CDs off a computer, as many so called "CD Manufacturers" do. I have seen many new sketchy companies pop up (on MySpace especially), quoting ridiculously low prices for this reason - they make your CDs on their laptop in a bedroom or garage somewhere. Usually if you ask for some sample work, it is quite obviously an amateur operation. People buy a CD label print kit at Wal-Mart and think you should pay for them to copy your CD incorrectly. You know that all the time, effort, and money that went into making your CD deserves the best possible representation, and being a fellow musician, I understand that.
Duplication is the process used for short run CD orders (499 copies or less) on high quality duplication machines similar to burning a CD, but with much more quality control. This method is especially useful for "About our Business" CDs, Demos or EPs, and other promotional materials.
Why don't you list everything you can create on the site?
There are so many things that Hangnail can do for you, and there are also so many things that can be considered either "graphic design" or "web design", that to list them would take months. If you do not see something you need, the best bet is to just ask. Even if I can't create what you need, chances are I can suggest another reliable organization for the job.
Why aren't your prices listed on the site?
Because each project has different needs. Depending on your type of project, time constraints, special instructions and anything else, the price will be different. I set up the best possible price for you after receiving all the details and a thorough understanding of you and your project.
I have artwork already created, can you use it to print my CDs and other merchandise?
Most likely, if it is print ready. If you are working with an educated artist, chances are this is the case and I can transfer your art no problem. However, if you send in art that is unusable (created by, say, your cousin's brother's boyfriend.), I will have to either recreate it or start over from scratch. I refuse to just power through and print your art if I know ahead of time that it will not come out well.
What do I get for sending friends to Hangnail Productions?
I have a logo I sketched; can I send it to you to base our logo off of?
Absolutely.
I WANT all your ideas and sketches because my goal is to make what YOU want.
Do you do everything yourself?
I receive this question often.
The answer is no.
Things like Audio Mastering and CD Replication are handled by hand-picked partners.
However things like web design, artwork, etc. (pretty much all design elements) - yes I do handle all of that. I'm happy to do so, because as I have stated many times, this way I know things are getting done right.
